Wagering requirements explained: what 35× really costs you
The multiplier is not the important part. What it multiplies is.
Two casinos, the same 35×, twice the work
A wagering requirement is the amount you have to stake before bonus money becomes withdrawable money. It is written as a multiplier — 35×, 40×, 45× — and almost every player compares those numbers directly.
That comparison is usually wrong, because the multiplier applies to different things at different casinos. Some apply it to the bonus alone. All eight operators in our comparison apply it to deposit plus bonus.
A 35× requirement on deposit + bonus is harder than a 45× requirement on the bonus alone. Run both on a €100 deposit with a 100% match and the difference is obvious.
The maths at three deposit sizes
The formula is (deposit + bonus) × 35. With a 100% match, the bonus equals the deposit, so it simplifies to deposit × 70.
That is the number worth internalising. Every euro you deposit into a 100% match at 35× on deposit + bonus commits you to staking seventy euros.
Contribution is not the same as turnover
Not every euro staked counts as a full euro of progress. Slots normally contribute 100%, but table games, video poker and live dealer games often contribute 10% or less, and some titles are excluded entirely.
If you clear a bonus on live blackjack at 10% contribution, a €7,000 requirement becomes €70,000 of actual stakes. This is the single biggest reason players believe a bonus was impossible to clear when it was merely being cleared on the wrong games.
The two rules that void bonuses
The €5 maximum stake applies to every spin or hand while a bonus is active. One bet above it is enough to breach the terms, and it is checked automatically.
The time limit — 10 days across this group, sometimes 7 at Buran — starts when the bonus is credited, not when you first play. Anything unwagered at the deadline is removed along with the winnings attached to it.
| Deposit | Bonus | Wagering base | Turnover needed | Per day over 10 days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| €20 | €20 | €40 | €1,400 | €140 |
| €50 | €50 | €100 | €3,500 | €350 |
| €100 | €100 | €200 | €7,000 | €700 |
| €250 | €250 | €500 | €17,500 | €1,750 |
| €500 | €500 | €1,000 | €35,000 | €3,500 |
Frequently asked
Is 35× a good wagering requirement?
It is around the market average when it applies to the bonus only. Applied to deposit plus bonus, as it is at all eight casinos in our comparison, it is on the demanding side — the effective cost is equivalent to 70× the bonus on a 100% match.
Does the deposit have to be wagered too?
At these operators, yes. The requirement is calculated on deposit + bonus, which is why a €100 deposit with a €100 bonus produces a €7,000 turnover requirement rather than €3,500.
What counts towards wagering?
Slots usually contribute 100%. Live dealer games, table games and video poker frequently contribute 10% or less, and some titles contribute nothing. Check the contribution table in the bonus terms before choosing what to play.
What happens if I do not finish in time?
The unwagered bonus and any winnings derived from it are removed. Your own remaining deposit funds are not affected, but everything attributable to the bonus is.
